Dear Siblings and Friends of Sedbergh,
Once again I find that the sands of time, the oodles, the eleventh hours, and the Sundays (months of) have slipped through our ageing fingers and Christmas is upon us. For many of us it has become an arbitrary deadline, a finishing line, for completing on all sorts of things so that we can enjoy our few days of rest. We find ourselves on a pre-Christmas merry-go-round until finally the great day is upon us and the world slows down, at least for a time.
So when the day arrives I hope you have a good one. I hope, as always, that the spirit of Christmas descends upon you and your family. Of course there are some that are no longer with us. We will head towards 2018 without them but with the usual hope and expectation that next year is better and more fulfilling than the last.
But that’s for next year. For now, enjoy what’s left of 2017, and when you’re sat round the Christmas table raise a glass to Winder, and its clear cut outline against an evening sky.
