England announced their squad for the Women’s Rugby World Cup this week and among them is Old Sedberghian Abbie Scott (R 09-11).

Abbie, who plays for Darlington Mowden Park RFU, began her international career in the U20s being part of the squad that won the U20 Nations cup. She successfully went on to debut at senior level in the 2015 Six Nations. Unfortunately, she picked up an injury which kept her out for 15 months but has recently come back onto the international women’s rugby scene in full force.

Abbie scored tries in all three matches in the International Women’s Rugby Series against Australia, Canada and New Zealand helping England to victory and to become ranked number one in the world.

Abbie joined Sedbergh from Keswick School in 2011 and was made deputy head of Robertson house the following year. She went on to gain a BA in History and politics at Northumbria University and has recently completed her MSc in Sports coaching.

England make their debut in the Women’s Rugby World Cup against Spain on Wednesday 9th August in Dublin.
