OS Photography Competition

The OS Club invites all members of the Sedberghian community to take part in our OS Photography Competition. Photographers of all skill-levels and affiliations to the School (alumni, parents, friends, etc) are welcome to send in your best photos of any content within the following categories: Landscapes Animals Portraits The winning entries will be announced later in the year and there are a number of prizes on offer for each category, including a choice of OS Merchandise. “The Wilson Run: A Race In Three Centuries 1881-2019” by Norman Berry (SH 57-62)

Sedbergh’s Ten Mile race is a very special event, one in which most pupils will have taken part. It is unique in its severity and length. Many Old Sedberghians will remember their times! Selva Ramasamy (S 81-88) Appointed Queen’s Counsel A belated congratulations to Selva Ramasamy (S 81-88) who last year was sworn in before the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice as a newly appointed member of the Queen’s Counsel (QC). Selva has a long established and impressive practice in the field of corporate and financial crime. He is a specialist in cases involving corporates and professionals under investigation and charged in criminal, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings. OS Weekend 2019

The upcoming OS Weekend will take place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September 2019. The Weekend will be held in conjunction with OS Sports Weekend, including OS hockey, rugby and netball fixtures against the School teams. There will also be a special Alumni Cross Country Run on Saturday afternoon with participants from St. Anselm’s College and Shrewsbury School competing. New Sedbergh School Promotional Video – ‘The Spirit of Sedbergh’

Sedbergh School’s new promotional film, ‘The Spirit of Sedbergh’, recently launched on 9th September. The film features both Casterton Sedbergh Preparatory School and Sedbergh Senior School, highlighting the relationship between the two. The focus on the pupil journey at Sedbergh is key to capturing the spirit of both Schools. Using a clever, and very real, take on the famous Sedbergh wolf, the film brings the unique spirit of Sedbergh to life in this captivating and emotionally driven film.

OS Platform Upgrade

We are pleased to announce that the Old Sedberghian Club Online Platform, OS Connect, has been upgraded to the ‘Next Generation Platform’! The upgrade provides increased mentoring and networking functionalities with an enhanced user interface to facilitate a more efficient exchange of experiences, opportunities and career knowledge between Old Sedberghians. Philip Thomas (H 95-00) Completes 1218km Cycle Challenge

The OS Club extends a heartfelt congratulations to Philip Thomas (H 95-00) who completed the gruelling Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) Cycle Challenge on the 18th-22nd August this year, in aid of cancer research. Philip completed the race in a time of 79:32:49 or an average time of 15.27km/hr over the five punishing days. Philip tackled the 1218 km (761 mile) marathon event in memory of a former school friend, Sam Barker (E 95-00), who tragically died of cancer last year, leaving a wife and two young children. “I wanted to do something I could dedicate to Sam’s memory and look back on with...

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Honorary OS Graeme Marrs, who died on Friday 16th August at the age of 79. His Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday 10th September at St Bridget’s Church, West Kirby, Wirral, Merseyside, at 1.30pm. The Old Sedberghian Club has received the sad news that Jon Hardey (1950-2019), expert on peregrine falcons and other upland birds of prey, passed away in July 2019. Jon Hardey, who has died aged 69, belonged to the North East Branch of the Scottish Raptor Study Group, consisting of remarkable and feisty specialists studying the ecology, behaviour and changing fortunes of birds of prey.
