All OS are warmly invited to take part in the upcoming Morgan Run, which will take place on Frostrow Fell on Saturday 26th February at 14:00.
The Morgan Run was established in 1958 and is one Sedbergh’s most popular and characterful events, regularly drawing around 500 Sedberghians of past and present up and down the gullies of Frostrow Fell. The competition is a race of 4.8 miles for OS against the School and Staff as three different teams. Although the OS squad had a long, dry spell without winning the competition since 2005, 2022 will see the OS team going for a hat trick of wins having won in both 2019 and 2020. The 2021 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the last edition, the men’s event was won by Sedgwickian Fraser Sproul in a remarkable time of 26:43, beating out British Fell Running Champion Carl Bell by five seconds. The top three male performers from the OS team were:
Sam Fisher (W 06-11) (2018 and 2019 winner) running in 27 minutes and 16 seconds (3rd overall)
Ben van Dijk (H 14-18) who finished 4th overall in 28 minutes and 42 seconds
Johnny Campbell (SH 12-16) in 29 minutes and 30 seconds and finishing 8th overall
The women’s winner was guest runner Victoria Wilkinson in an impressive 29:55, while the fastest three OS performers were:
Georgina Boyd-Moss (L 13-18) 36 minutes and 33 seconds
Alice Slattery (L 15-17) 37 minutes and 14 seconds
Sally Bennett (R 13-18) 37 minutes and 21 seconds
With the highest combined score of both men and women, the Old Sedberghians were the winners of the event.
