A NOTE OF THANKS FROM NONAGENARIAN DR. BILL MOXON (E 43-48)

Billmoxon

The Old Sedberghian Club would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Bill Moxon (E 43-48) who has recently celebrated the milestone feat of reaching 90 years of age. Having received innumerous cards, flowers, telephone calls and visits, Bill and his fellow nonagenarian wife Betty would like to send their thanks to their myriad of well-wishers.

The pair recently moved from their very pretty, but isolated, cottage at Wharfe View near Harrogate to a nearby nursing home. They are both doing well but are now earning little bit of extra help. In addition to both 90th birthdays they also celebrated their Diamond Wedding two years ago, receiving a telegram from the Queen which is proudly displayed on their wall.

An Evanian pupil during World War II, Bill has long been a staunch supporter of Sedbergh School throughout his years. Both of Bill’s sons, John (E 73-78) and James (E 75-79) are also Old Sedberghians.

Please see below a letter from Bill and Betty:

Dear Old Sedberghian Community,

We hope that this letter finds you in good spirits and health.

We wanted to write to thank you for the kind messages of goodwill, Christmas wishes and wonderful birthday cards and presents we have received whilst we have been staying at Bilton Hall.

We have been overwhelmed by everyone’s kind and generous words and gifts. We would have loved to write to you all individually however Helen (our daughter) has offered to help us write these letters as we were not sure our handwriting would be up to the task.

We have been settling into life here at Bilton Hall over the last couple of months. The staff are lovely and look after us with humour and kindness. We have had a number of family gatherings all of which have been very special moments. Although it is very difficult for us to get out and about, all visitors are very welcome, including any four-footed friends! If you think you might be able to pop by, please just call the office number and the staff here can let us know.

We would love to hear any news from you and we will do our best to stay in touch. We are very much looking forward to some warmer weather and to have the opportunity to sit out in the garden and enjoy some spring sunshine.

All our love and thank you once again.
