RECRUITMENT COORDINATOR (FIXED TERM) – SEDBERGH SCHOOL

Responsible to: Human Resources Manager
Contract Type: Fixed term (until 31 July 2020; possibility to be extended or
become permanent)

Hours of work: Full time – 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £18,000 – £20,000 pro rata (dependent upon skills and experience)

Annual leave: 25 days a year, plus bank holidays

As our International Summer Schools and Activity Course Programmes continue to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic recruitment professional to join our professional and friendly HR Team.

We aim to deliver a great candidate experience while supporting managers to recruit the best talent for our activities both in the UK and Overseas, therefore we are looking for someone who would thrive in a varied and stimulating recruitment role.

You will report to the HR Manager and work closely with the Senior HR Advisor and HR Administrator.

This is a key position within the HR Team and Sedbergh School as a whole. Sedbergh School is experiencing a period of expansion and the Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for the effective and timely day to day running of our whole cycle of recruitment administration from advertising campaigns and applicant management through organising inductions.

Sedbergh School run large numbers of recruitment campaigns on an annual basis for both our permanent members and those who join us on a fixed term basis for our expanding range of Summer Schools and Activity Courses here in the and overseas.

This role is responsible for delivering a high level of customer service both to applicants and recruiting managers.

We would be interested to hear from you, whether you are an experienced HR or Recruitment professional (salary circa 20-22K) or a recent graduate (18-19K) looking for a role that will provide a wide range of recruitment experiences in several different markets.

You will have:

  • Excellent organisational skills, including a proven ability to prioritise workload and juggle competing demands.
  • A high level of candidate service awareness and the ability to built strong relationships with candidates, both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Excellent and engaging communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to clearly explain procedures.
  • Previous relevant experience within recruitment.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SPORT – SEDBERGH SCHOOL


Sedbergh School seeks to appoint an Assistant Director of Sport, who will have direct responsibility for all aspects of sport and physical activity for girls. Sedbergh is ambitious for the future of girls’ sport, both in its provision for female athletes and as an environment in which all girls are enthusiastic about physical activity, and value healthy, active lifestyles.

The Assistant Director of Sport should be an experienced and recognised coach of either Netball or Hockey.  Most important, however, is the ability to manage a forward-thinking programme, to inspire high standards of performance and participation and to enhance the Sedbergh reputation.

Facilities for sport are outstanding and were recently enhanced by the Hirst Centre which provides two indoor Netball courts.  There is a large department of dedicated PE teachers and sports coaches.  Examination PE is very popular and outstandingly successful.

Sedbergh is a full boarding school, spectacularly situated within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  There are 550 pupils, including 200 girls, aged 13-18 in the senior school, and a further 200 at the prep school situated in nearby Casterton.

TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME – SEDBERGH SCHOOL

Interested in a career change?

Sedbergh is running its own Initial Teacher Training Programme linked with The University of Buckingham from September 2020. This will be school based training at Sedbergh Senior School or Casterton, Sedbergh Prep school to gain qualified teacher status in conjunction with an online training course with the University of Buckingham (plus two residentials). I changed from Chartered Surveying to teaching at the age of 40, so its never too late!

Have you ever thought of changing career and making a difference?

In September 2020 we are starting an initial teacher training scheme at Sedbergh in conjunction with The University of Buckingham. It is school based with online training and takes 10 months. The post is on a salary with free accommodation, free meals during term time and you will have the help of experienced professional and subject mentors to support you throughout the year. Some packages include payment of university fees.

Many people find their jobs unrewarding and unfulfilling but we can say from experience, that a teacher’s life is anything but boring! We change lives and although not the easiest job at times, it gives us the opportunity to make a difference to young peoples lives.

QUALIFIED RURAL SURVEYOR

GSC Grays is an independent firm of Chartered Surveyors, Land and Estate Agents operating predominantly in the north of England. Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking to recruit a qualified Rural Practice Surveyor to undertake estate management and rural professional work.

The position will be based at our office in Colburn, North Yorkshire and will cover work across our other offices as well as client sites in the North East. The role will report to one of our Directors and requires someone who is a qualified member of the RICS, with a minimum of 2 years’ post qualified experience and a proven track record in the rural sector. You will also need the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, be commercially astute and strategically focused. Ideally, applicants should also be RICS Accredited Valuers and/or members of the CAAV.

You must be comfortable with a high degree of autonomy, have excellent team orientated interpersonal skills and be capable of monitoring and managing the work of one or more graduate surveyors and/or placement students.
