OS Support Needed For Internship Opportunities

Ewan Dowes (W 99-97) Delivering a seminar to pupils at Sedbergh on Professional Sport to Business

The OS Club would be extremely grateful to any OS who would be willing to support our programme of supporting current 6th form pupils and OS with career advice, work experience and mentoring.

Sedbergh has an unrivalled reputation for preparing young people for the outside world. They are resilient and courageous, polite and courteous, well rounded and confident. At Sedbergh, boys and girls grow into young men and women who will forge friendships for life and establish a network of contacts that will serve them well. What makes Sedbergh so special can be seen in the pride and sense of belonging that Old Sedberghians have for the School; their willingness to give something back is unparalleled. The OS Club would be extremely grateful to any OS who would be willing to support current 6th form pupils and OS with career advice, work experience and mentoring.

Our belief is that current pupils deserve an equally unrivalled level of support and guidance to ensure that they are in the best position to choose their next step in life.

We currently have a number of Sedberghians with requests for summer work experience placements and internships. The majority of the people are happy to consider a broad field of job roles to gain valuable experience. If you feel that you could support with this programme please get in touch, as it would be greatly appreciated by the Club and those in need of support.

We had a number of OS who kindly volunteered their time to come to Sedbergh and deliver seminars to pupils at the School Careers Fair last April. The pupils found the seminars very insightful and incredibly useful.

The internship could be anything from 2 weeks to a year depending on what is right for each company. There will be a formal application process with either face-to-face or Skype interviews in order to ensure that we obtain the best fit for the specific company. This process will also help the individuals gain valuable interview and assessment skills.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me at bpc@sedberghschool.org or 07531469256.
Thanks again for the continued support from the OS Community. The club is enormously grateful.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,
Ben
