RONG QIAO SEDBERGH SCHOOL, CHINA AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES

On 25th November 2017, the Chairman of Governors signed a contract on behalf of SSIL with the Rong Qiao Group to support the development and operation of Rong Qiao Sedbergh School in Fuzhou, China.

Sedbergh School International Limited will advise the Rong Qiao Group who will build, own and operate the Rong Qiao Sedbergh School in Fuzhou. The Rong Qiao Group is a family owned business with interests in agriculture, manufacturing, technology and service industries in south-east China and Indonesia. Rong Qiao already operate the prestigious Jakarta Nanyang International School in Jakarta and five award-winning Kindergartens in Fuzhou.

Rong Qiao Sedbergh School will be located in Binhai New City in Changle. Binhai New City is a national-level high-tech development area within the Free-Trade Zone of Fuzhou and just 50 minutes from Fuzhou city centre. Two highways and two subways connect Fuzhou city centre with Binhai New City.

The school site is 16 hectares. Each phase of education will have dedicated facilities which will include classrooms, a library, science laboratories, art and technology facilities, administration and will have access to indoor stadiums, swimming pools, theatres and playgrounds. Chinese Culture will be taught in a dedicated centre. The total construction area will be 120,000m2 providing for 2000 pupils.

Sedbergh School International Limited will provide particular guidance on the provision of boarding school education for children from the age of six onwards. The new school’s position, just 10 minutes from Fuzhou Changle International Airport will enable it to act as an educational hub for Fujian Province and beyond, and recruit boarding pupils accordingly.

The following great posts are available for qualified and (minimum 2 year) experienced teaching colleagues, starting on 19 August 2018, as the school welcomes its first students into kindergarten, Year 2, Year 8 and into IGCSE at age 15.

We welcome applications on behalf of the school, which will have the core ethos of Sedbergh School at its heart, to ensure that Sedberghians in China have the skills and qualifications to compete with the best, the resilience to thrive under pressure and the attitude to capitalise on the opportunities that lie before them.
Full boarding is an integral part of the school, and will commence in 2019.

We are keen to encourage people with a keen interest in running extra-curricular activities and making a full contribution to the whole school.

We are also looking for a Head Academics of Primary School, which is a leadership position, looking to coordinate the curriculum – especially the Chinese core curriculum and the English National Curriculum.
