HENRY FOSTER (W 16-18) FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER
Dear Sedberghian community,
It was announced over the weekend that recent leaver Henry Foster (W 16-18) tragically passed away at the young age of 20, after suffering a cardiac arrest. Henry was on a rugby scholarship at Central Washington University (CWU) in Washington, USA, having joined the Wildcats team there in 2018 and making an immediate impact as a freshman. At Sedbergh, Henry was an integral part of the part of the all-conquering, undefeated Sedbergh 1st XV of 2018 which won the National Treble – the Daily Mail trophy in addition to the National Rosslyn Park 7s and Sedbergh 10s titles. Although Henry was forced to medically retire after the 2020 season with the Washington Wildcats, he remained close to the team as he continued his studies at CWU. Henry will be forever remembered as a great rugby player in the unbeaten 2018 season, but also an incredible role model for all pupils.
Henry’s parents have set up a GoFundMe page for repatriation costs and to arrange all post-death activities including a Memorial Service when he is back in the UK. Please visit the page here if you are able to donate – https://gofund.me/d83d21d4.
