HONOURS AWARDED TO OS’s

Andrew (Andy) J Baxendine (SH 70-74) was awarded the OBE for services to defence in 2014’s New Year’s Honours.  *

James R C Lupton CBE (P 68-72) has been made a Life Peer in the House of Lords in the Queen’s 2015 Birthday Honours.  He has taken the title of Baron Lupton of Lovington

The Hon Sir Richard McCombe (P 66-70) has been awarded an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.  *

Andrew Robertson OBE (E 56-61), President of the 1525 Society, has received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Glasgow.  The ceremony took place last June on Commemoration Day in the University Chapel and Bute Hall.  *

The Doctorate was awarded for successive roles in the NHS.  Since 2007 he has chaired NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and more recently has chaired the Partnership with the City Council, the University, the NHS and the Scottish Government, in the development of the Glasgow Centre for the Study of Population Health which will shortly be moving to Bridgeton Cross to be located alongside the University’s own Social Science Unit.

David J L Swann (E 72-77) was awarded a CBE in the Operational Honours List in February 2015.*

Paul Lester MBE (W 30-36) has been awarded the Chevalier Legion d’Honneur as a D Day veteran, by the French President in 2015.  France will make the awards to mark the 70th anniversary of the event.

James A R E Ward (E 85-91) was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 2015 Birthday Honours for services to Law and Order in the South West and for services to the Community.  *
