Invitation to Sedbergh School Gala Dinner at Lincoln’s Inn

Sedbergh School, the Old Sedberghian Club and the Foundation are delighted to invite all Old Sedberghians, Honorary OS, former and current staff and parents, and friends of the School to a Gala Dinner on Friday 24 June 2022 in the magnificent setting of Lincoln’s Inn in London which will also officially launch the 500th Anniversary Campaign for Sedbergh School.
The evening is sure to be one of the highlights of the year as we set out the future vision for Sedbergh and approach the 500th founding anniversary of Sedbergh School in 2025, noting that this milestone brings great opportunity for celebration and reflection for the entire Sedberghian community.
Please see below a message from Ian Durrans (SH 71-76), School Governor and Campaign Chairman:
We are delighted to invite the Sedbergh community to our Gala Dinner where we will set out our vision for the School and officially launch the 500th Anniversary Campaign for Sedbergh School in the company of our friends, supporters and Sedbergh family.
Our aim is to provide a forward-facing education for the next 500 years ahead. Our work begins with the creation of a state-of-the-art Technology Centre, where we can accommodate the growing fields of computer sciences (including AI and digital media) with the latest advancements in engineering manufacturing. Our ambition is to open this new facility in 2024, ready for our 500th Anniversary.
This Technology Centre, together with a number of other exciting projects, will enable the School to deliver on its educational vision. We would be thrilled for you to join us in London and learn more about how Sedbergh School is progressing towards being the Northern powerhouse of cutting-edge education.
Yours,
Ian Durrans (SH 71-76)

The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn

The largest and oldest of the four Inns of Court, the historic buildings of Lincoln’s Inn date back to 1490 and are set in 11 acres of beautifully maintained private gardens right in the heart of Central London, providing a haven from the roar of traffic and crowded pavements.
The Great Hall & Bench Rooms

Opened in 1845 by Queen Victoria, the Great Hall is considered to be one of the most distinguished buildings designed by Philip Hardwick working in the Tudor Revival style. On the north wall is a huge and magnificent fresco executed by G.F. Watts, the Pre-Raphaelite painter, showing the world’s law givers from Moses to Edward I.

On the evening, guests will enter via the Grand Staircase for a Drinks Reception held in the Bench Rooms & Upper Vestibule. The East Terrace will also be used for arrival drinks, weather permitting.

The imposing wooden doors are then opened to reveal the magnificence of the Great Hall where guests are invited to dine.

If you have any questions about the evening, please contact Ben Collins at bpc@sedberghschool.org.
We do hope you can join us for this very special event!
