JACK HILL (SH 16-18) TO CLIMB MT. KILIMANJARO FOR CHARITY
This summer, Jack Hill (SH 16-18) will be attempting Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the charity Dig Deep, which works with communities in East Africa to provide access to clean water and sanitation. Of these communities, 8 in 10 people lack access to clean water and sanitation.
“Last summer I travelled in Kenya and was struck by the very basic standard of living experienced by so many there. It was incredibly humbling to meet people who had so little and yet were so generous with their hospitality and welcome.” he says. “It was quickly apparent that even the smallest financial donation can make a difference to these communities and that is why I would ask if you could help me raise funds for this very worthy cause.”
Jack is seeking a fundraising target of £2990 for Dig Deep which also works to provide the local communities with training on vital hygiene and menstrual health.
Kilimanjaro at 5895m is the world’s tallest free-standing mountain and the trek to the summit is known as one of the toughest on the planet. “It will be a huge challenge undertake this high altitude extreme climb with some of my Durham Uni teammates but we are determined to conquer Africa’s tallest peak.”
