Contract Type: Part time, permanent (term time only, plus 2 additional weeks in the summer holiday)

Sedbergh School are now looking to recruit a motivated, friendly and enthusiastic Book Room & Headmaster’s Office Admin Assistant, to be based at our Senior School.

The Book Room is a small ‘shop’ located in the main School buildings and enables both pupils and staff to purchase a variety of stationery items and textbooks.

The purpose of the role is two-fold. Firstly, to support the provision of a stationery service to both staff and pupils. Our ideal candidate will manage the day-to-day function of the Book Room, helping the Book Room Manager to ensure that the School has adequate supplies of all stationery for both the pupils and staff.

Secondly, to assist in supporting the reprographic provision for the Headmaster’s Office and the Common Room. The successful candidate will also help to provide and support routine administrative duties in the Headmaster’s Office.

Sedbergh School are now seeking a full time Assistant Housemaster/Housemistress (AHSM), to provide outstanding welfare support to the pupils in the House, in support of the Housemaster/Housemistress (HSM).

The duties of the role will be wide and varied, but it is essential for the AHSM to be able to demonstrate an empathy with and understanding of young people, a sense of humour and a genuine concern for the pupils’ well-being and active involvement in their personal development. You will be required to positively encourage the pupils in their interests and activities and develop a professional and friendly relationship with them. You will also provide support in the maintenance of morale, standards and the efficient operation of the House.

The post is available from January 2021.

Sedbergh School is seeking to appoint an Interim Estates Manager for a minimum of 3 months’ cover.

Reporting to and working with the Bursar (Operations), the successful candidate is expected to have experience of property and grounds management and maintenance. Excellent interpersonal, IT and administrative skills are essential as the post holder is expected to ensure that the school is compliant with standards in relation to estates and buildings and relevant Health & Safety legislation.

The Interim Estates Manager is responsible for the daily maintenance of the Senior and Prep School’s property, grounds and assets, together with all the mechanical, heating, ventilation and electrical plant therein. They will provide support, direction and guidance to personnel in these areas.

TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME – SEDBERGH SCHOOL

Interested in a career change?

Sedbergh is running its own Initial Teacher Training Programme linked with The University of Buckingham from September 2020. This will be school based training at Sedbergh Senior School or Casterton, Sedbergh Prep school to gain qualified teacher status in conjunction with an online training course with the University of Buckingham (plus two residentials). I changed from Chartered Surveying to teaching at the age of 40, so its never too late!

Have you ever thought of changing career and making a difference?

In September 2020 we are starting an initial teacher training scheme at Sedbergh in conjunction with The University of Buckingham. It is school based with online training and takes 10 months. The post is on a salary with free accommodation, free meals during term time and you will have the help of experienced professional and subject mentors to support you throughout the year. Some packages include payment of university fees.

Many people find their jobs unrewarding and unfulfilling but we can say from experience, that a teacher’s life is anything but boring! We change lives and although not the easiest job at times, it gives us the opportunity to make a difference to young peoples lives.

The position will be based at our office in Colburn, North Yorkshire and will cover work across our other offices as well as client sites in the North East. The role will report to one of our Directors and requires someone who is a qualified member of the RICS, with a minimum of 2 years’ post qualified experience and a proven track record in the rural sector.
