Recruitment Director at Independent Coach Education, Daniel Scargill (P 92-97), is currently recruiting university leavers for Sport Graduate roles in UK schools. Dan is recruiting young hockey, rugby, netball, lacrosse, cricket coaches to start work as a full-time, residential sports coach within an elite school here in the UK.

The posts start in September 2021-July 2022 and include: wage (from £1,100 per month), free accommodation, all meals and no bills.

SCHOOL DRIVER

Sedbergh School are currently seeking a careful and responsible Driver to undertake the Lancaster to Casterton School Run.

In this position, you will pick up and drop off children along a predetermined route and maintain a safe and friendly atmosphere for all children in your care.

You will ensure our School vehicles are well-maintained, fuelled, cleaned and checked. You will have experience in dealing with children and it is essential that you have a full, clean driving licence with D1 status.

This will be a permanent, term time only post.  Details about this vacancy are as follows:

Sedbergh School is now seeking a full time Assistant Houseparent (AHSM) to join our busy boarding community. The role of Assistant Houseparent at Sedbergh is purely pastoral, underpinning the provision of outstanding welfare support for pupils in the House, in support of the Housemaster/Housemistress. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Primarily, the AHSM will provide direct support to pupils and staff, assisting with managing all aspects of the health, welfare and pastoral care of pupils, adhering to relevant school policies at all times;
  • Secondly, the AHSM will provide support for the Housemaster/Housemistress with a wide range of administrative duties relating to pupils and their parents;
  • Thirdly, the AHSM will work closely with the operational management team to ensure that the House catering, cleaning and laundry teams maintain standards, in accordance with School policy and operating specifications.

The duties of the role will be wide and varied, but it is essential for the AHSM to be able to demonstrate an empathy with and understanding of young people, a sense of humour and a genuine concern for the pupils’ well-being and active involvement in their personal development. They will be required to positively encourage the pupils in their interests and activities, and to develop a professional and friendly relationship with them. The AHSM will also provide support in the maintenance of morale, standards and the efficient operation of the Boarding House.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with children aged 13-18 years old and relevant qualifications in medical or welfare related roles would be desirable. Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and organisational skills are also essential, as is the ability to work flexibly, maintaining a focus on quality at all times.

The post is available from January 2022.

Sedbergh is running its own Initial Teacher Training Programme linked with The University of Buckingham from September 2020. This will be school based training at Sedbergh Senior School or Casterton, Sedbergh Prep school to gain qualified teacher status in conjunction with an online training course with the University of Buckingham (plus two residentials). I changed from Chartered Surveying to teaching at the age of 40, so its never too late!

In September 2020 we are starting an initial teacher training scheme at Sedbergh in conjunction with The University of Buckingham. It is school based with online training and takes 10 months.
