Racing Manager and Former Head of School, Max Pimlott (P 04-09), along with his trainer brother Ollie Pimlott (P 01-06), are looking for fellow Old Sedberghians with an interest in starting a racing syndicate, with a ‘Sedberghian’ horse available for shareholding. The plan is to lease a two-year-old horse to race on the flat called The Sedberghian from 1st July – 31st December 2020.
Shares will start at £450 per head at 2.5% all in, until the end of the year. Max will look after all shareholders by providing regular updates on the horses’ progress; including videos, photos, voice clips and more. Shareholders would still be able to conduct stable visits to see the horse on the gallops and meet other shareholders. Horse racing is currently behind closed doors, however, the British Horseracing Authority’s main priority is allowing owners back onto the racecourse as soon as possible, but with pubs and restaurants re-opening soon, social events off the racecourse can also be organised until this time, in order to give the best ownership experience.
Max works for the International Racing Bureau in Newmarket, Suffolk. He assists more or less every trainer in the UK – and many in Europe – with entries, race planning and organising racing abroad.
Max also works at many of the major meetings around the world including the Breeders’ Cup in the US, as well as promoting races in Qatar. He works regularly in Scandinavia and Turkey as well as assisting trainers looking to run horses in France, Germany and Italy.
Ollie (pictured top) is in the process of taking out a joint license with fellow trainer Tim Fitzgerald in Malton. He joined Tim as his assistant in the autumn of 2019 which has seen an upsurge in form for the yard.
Between them, they’ve sent out twenty two runners, having five winners and eight places including a third at Chantilly in France with their first runner together.
The Sedberghian will run under Tim’s name in the racecard until Ollie’s license has been approved by the BHA in the middle of July. They had their first Royal Ascot runner together on Wednesday.
Ollie trains for owners such as Sheikh Fahad Al Thani’s Qatar Racing operation and trained his first runner at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
Please see below a fee proposal for shares.
NB: We offer a fixed monthly price, so you will not receive any unexpected bills. The price covers everything including training and keep, shoeing, basic veterinary services, jockeys and domestic entries, gallop fees and transport to race meetings in the UK.
Prices below for 6 months lease:
2.5% – £450 all in
5% – £900 all in
7.5% – £1300 all in
10% – £1700 all in
Shareholders receive prize money relevant to their percentage of share.
Every shareholder will be eligible for one badge each time the horse runs. Owners and Trainers badges will be given preference to majority shareholders but every shareholder will get at least a “County Stand” badge every time the horse runs.
We will cover basic veterinary fees however it is the duty of the owner to pay for any major surgery required so syndicate members do not need to worry about extra vet fees.
We only insure our horses if they develop into pattern race standard.
The name The Sedberghian has been registered so as soon as shareholders have signed up the horse will be sourced at the upcoming breeze up sales at the end of June with a view to run towards the end of July.
