Recently, racing manager and former Head of School, Max Pimlott (P 04-09), and his trainer brother, Ollie Pimlott (P 01-06), announced the plan of starting an owner’s syndicate, with a ‘Sedberghian’ horse now available for shareholding.

Owing to a great response, ‘The Sedberghian’ was recently purchased at Tattersalls in Newmarket. Please click on the video above to see her promotional video (you must be a member of the Sedbergh School, England Facebook Group to watch). Max says that she will be making her debut on the racecourse in the first week of September. A stable visit to see her has also been planned for 30th August.

There are a limited amount of shares still available and start at £450 per head at 2.5% all in, until the end of the year. Max will look after all shareholders by providing regular updates on the horse’s progress; including videos, photos, voice clips and more. Shareholders would still be able to conduct stable visits to see the horse on the gallops and meet other shareholders. Horse racing is currently behind closed doors, however, the British Horseracing Authority’s main priority is allowing owners back onto the racecourse as soon as possible, and with pubs and restaurants now open again, social events off the racecourse can soon be organised in order to give the best ownership experience.

Max works for the International Racing Bureau in Newmarket, Suffolk. He assists more or less every trainer in the UK – and many in Europe – with entries, race planning and organising racing abroad.

Max also works at many of the major meetings around the world including the Breeders’ Cup  in the US, as well as promoting races in Qatar. He works regularly in Scandinavia and Turkey as well as assisting trainers looking to run horses in France, Germany and Italy.

Ollie (pictured top) is in the process of taking out a joint license with fellow trainer Tim Fitzgerald in Malton. He joined Tim as his assistant in the autumn of 2019 which has seen an upsurge in form for the yard.

Between them, they’ve sent out twenty two runners, having five winners and eight places including a third at Chantilly in France with their first runner together.

Ollie trains for owners such as Sheikh Fahad Al Thani’s Qatar Racing operation and trained his first runner at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

He also recently joined Racing Correspondent and BBC Broadcaster, Cornelius Lysaght, for an interview on the Cornelius Cast Podcast Series.

In the podcast, Ollie explains that he will be employing “completely unique”, data-driven methods – based on the idea of ‘Moneyball’ developed in US baseball – to prepare his twenty two horses at Malton, North Yorkshire, including the recently purchased Sedberghian. The ambitious 31-year-old who’s been a point-to-point trainer and rider, a sports commentator and a pundit with bookmakers William Hill, has an intriguing story to tell.
