OS RUNNING TEAM FINISH 3RD AT THE ANNUAL ALUMNI CROSS COUNTRY RACE AT WIMBLEDON COMMON

2016-12-17 OS team at the TH&H Alumni Race, Wimbledon Common (14)

On Saturday 17th December the OS Running team took part in the Annual Alumni Cross Country run at Wimbledon Common. There were over 25 Alumni teams running from a wide range of schools across the UK with over 200 runners lining up on the start to race the 5 mile course. The Old Sedberghian team had one of the biggest squads we had ever had for the race which included the Headmaster, Andrew Fleck and the current Master in charge of Running at Sedbergh, Jon Richardson. It was a real honour to have them both running as guests for the OS team.

The team finished 3rd which was a great achievement. Some notable mentions go to Sam Fisher who finished 7th in a time of 27 minutes 12 seconds, Robert Barnby who finished 10th in a time of 27 minutes 34 seconds, the Headmaster who finished with a time of 36 minutes 3 seconds, Emma Wood who was the first OS girl home in a time of 35 minutes 41 seconds and Norman Berry who got round the course with a new knee and hip in a time of 58 minutes and 31 seconds. Well done to all who wore the OS jersey and thank you to those OSs who came to support the event.

After the race the team headed to the Green Man pub on Putney Heath for a customary celebratory drink, before attending the first official OS Running team Dinner at the London Steakhouse where OS James Robertson kindly hosted the team for the meal in his restaurant. The food was exquisite, the atmosphere was exceptional and the company was brilliant. It was an extremely memorable evening, and we hope the first of many following the annual Alumni Race. Thank you James, your gratitude and hospitality were greatly appreciated by all!
