OS SARAH RORISON TO WALK 1,323KM IN 90 DAYS TO RAISE MONEY FOR GB U21 TEAM TOUR
OS shooter Sarah Rorison (R 15-22) has set herself the challenge of walking 1,323km in 90 days to raise funds for a training tour ahead of the 2024 World Long Range Championships.
Selected for the GB U21 long range outdoor shooting squad in October, Sarah has the opportunity to take part in a recce tour in March 2023, preparing the team for the Championships. As well as offering a chance to train with the elite and get to know their competitors, the tour will help them acclimatise to the temperature and high altitudes they will face in South Africa.
Taking on this challenge alongside one of her GB U21 team mates, Sarah’s walk is the equivalent of travelling across South Africa from the East coast to the West. The pair embarked on their challenge on Monday 7th November and will continue until 4th February 2023, aiming to clock up 14.7km every day.
As well as raising funds for the tour, Sarah wants to give something back, and plans to donate 10% of anything she raises to cancer charity Breast Cancer Now – a cause close to her heart after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Now studying Biology at Sheffield University, Sarah’s shooting career began at Sedbergh Prep School taking part in indoor rifle shooting with Ian Christie, and over the years it has become a significant part of her life:
“Shooting has been so important to me. Not just the skills I’ve learned but the community I’ve found. I’ve made lifelong friends through shooting.
It’s not just about pulling the trigger, it’s about training your mind and being able to focus in the moment. I would encourage anyone to get involved in shooting.”
