OS Team Retain Morgan Run Trophy

Morganrun2020

The three Bird’s: Spencer Bird (E 14-19), Oliver Bird (E), Joseph Bird (E 12-17)

On Saturday 1st of February, approximately 350 Old Sedberghians, current pupils, members of staff, parents and guests (again) endured the wet and muddy conditions to compete in the annual 4.8 mile Morgan Run.

The run was established in 1958 and is one Sedbergh’s most popular and characterful events. The competition, which takes place across Frostrow Fell, is a race for OS against the School and Staff and was won for the first time in 14 years last year by the Old Sedberghian team.

This year, men’s event was won by current Sedgwickian Fraser Sproul in a remarkable time of 26:43, beating out British Fell Running Champion Carl Bell by five seconds. The fastest OS finisher was last year’s winner and multiple Morgan Run champion Sam Fisher (W 06-11) who finished in a time of 27:16. Ben van Dijk (H 14-18) and Johnny Campbell (SH 12-16) also performed strongly, finishing in the top 10 and rounding out the OS top 3.

With the highest combined score of both men and women, the Old Sedberghians were once again the winners of the event.
