OS WEEKEND 2018- SATURDAY 10TH AND SUNDAY 11TH NOVEMBER
Inviting all OS to OS Weekend 2018 in what will be an historic occasion honouring the centenary of the Great War. Events include an OS Rugby match (vs. Lancaster RGS), drinks reception, three course dinner, special remembrance Sunday Service at the School Cloisters, and more.
OS Weekend Programme of Events
Saturday 10th November
12:30pm – OS President’s Reception/Lunch in the Thornely Studio (All OS welcome, Dress: Informal)
Susie Abbott widow of Rick Abbott (L 68-73) and other friends and family will be unveiling a sculpture at the Thornely Studio during the Reception in memory of Rick who attended Sedbergh as a music scholar
1:00pm – Girls’ Hockey: 1st, 2nd & 3rd XI vs Giggleswick on the Astroturf
1:20pm – Free return minibus service to depart for Lancaster Royal Grammar School outside the Thornely Studio for any OS wishing to watch the 1st XV play Lancaster RGS (please contact Ben Collins at bpc@sedberghschool.org or 07531469256 if you wish to reserve a seat)
2:15pm – Sedbergh A1 vs Lancaster RGS at Buskholme
4:00pm – Tea and coffee served in Queen’s Hall
4:30pm – Old Sedberghian Club AGM in School Library
7:30pm – OS Drinks Reception at The Black Bull Hotel
8:00pm – OS Dinner at The Black Bull Hotel (Dress: Lounge Suits)
Sunday 11th November
9:00am – South African War Memorial Service at the Boer War Memorial on the Bursary Lawn
9:45am – Tea and coffee served in Queen’s Hall
10:30am – Remembrance Sunday Service at the School Cloisters
11:15am – Tea, coffee and light refreshments served in Queen’s Hall
11:30am – Commemoration Ceremony: A short ceremony will take place in front of the School Cloisters at 11.30, immediately following the Remembrance Service, to mark the Centenary of the Armistice and bringing an end to the OS Pilgrimage. Soil from the battlefields will be interred as a permanent memorial to all those Sedberghians who fought or fell in the Great War
11:30am – School Memorial Watercolour Exhibition in the Design Centre(open until 6:00pm)
12:00pm – Brunch served in Houses (please contact Ben Collins at bpc@sedberghschool.org or 07531469256 if you wish to attend)
6:00pm – Sedbergh School Concert of Remembrance at Powell Hall (Free admission)
ACCOMMODATION
The Old Sedberghian Club has reserved accommodation at the new Black Bull Hotel for Saturday 10th November. If you wish to reserve a room please contact the hotel direct at reservations@theblackbullsedbergh.co.uk or Tel: 015396 20264 and inform the hotel you will be attending OS Weekend.
The Old Sedberghian Club has also booked rooms at the Black Swan hotel in Ravenstonedale at a competitive rate should people require further accommodation. The OS Club will also be providing a complimentary coach transfer from the hotel to and from the OS Dinner in Powell Hall. It should be no more than a 20 minute journey each way. Tickets for the Dinner are £35 per person (£20 if you are under 30 years old) which includes a 3 course Dinner with drink and a glass of prosecco or soft drink on arrival
