SCHOOL HOUSE HOUSEMASTER APPOINTMENT

Schoolhouse

Dear Old Sedberghians,

In July, I wrote to tell you that Chris Hattam had been appointed to become Headmaster of The Elms Preparatory School in Shropshire and that at the start of the Michaelmas Term I would move to appoint his successor.

I am pleased to tell you that Peter Coke will become Housemaster of School House in January 2018.

Peter joined Sedbergh in September 2016 as Head of the PE Department and in the short time that he has been at Sedbergh the PE Department exam results have improved significantly. He has been a Tutor in Hart House and coaches senior Rugby and Athletics.

Prior to joining Sedbergh, Peter taught Geography and PE at Abingdon School, widely known as an excellent academic School, where he was also Director of Rugby. Peter is joined by his wife Katharine and their three children, William, Henry and Pippa.

A change of Housemaster inevitably brings some change of style but I am confident that Peter and Katharine will ensure that School House is a busy, enjoyable and caring House. They are obviously excited by the prospect of the move and will start to get to know your sons in the weeks between now and Christmas.

I know you will wish to meet Peter who will attend the School House and Robertson Ball on Saturday 18 November; he and Katharine will also be at the House Brunch the following day. I do hope you will join us on those occasions so that Peter can introduce himself to you. He and Chris will also conduct a thorough handover before Christmas to ensure continuity through the academic year.

There will be many opportunities in the coming months to thank Chris and Jess for their leadership of School House and their pastoral care of the boys who have passed through the House during their tenure. I do hope you will join me in wishing Chris well for his new role at The Elms and in welcoming Peter, Katharine and their family to School House.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Fleck
