Sedbergh School Rugby Squad donates £20,000.00 to South African Rugby Charity Connect Sports Academy

Please see the following message from Sedbergh School:

You will probably know that our South Africa Rugby Tour had to be cancelled this summer due to the pandemic and there is a huge sense of disappointment for the squad, staff and our supporters, especially for those who have now come to the end of their time at Sedbergh.

Part of any sports tour is to learn more about the host nation and one of the most important things we set out to achieve as a tour group was to raise money for the Connect Sports Academy, an amazing South African charity based in Cape Town that we believe in and wanted to support.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that £20,000.00 has been raised for the academy, more than we had even hoped for!

We would like to thank our SSFC boys, parents, kit sponsors and supporters for raising such an incredible amount.

This will go a long way in helping to make lives and opportunities so much better for many young people, and will help to unlock potential both on and off the sports field.

Online Ceremony: Saturday 12:00pm 25 July 2020 (GMT) (Please see the video above for live coverage at this time)

Please join our virtual donation ceremony on Saturday 25 July 2020 at 12 noon, featuring members of Sedbergh School, Connect Sports Academy and some international sporting VIP guests!

Hear from some outstanding sportsmen about why touring is such a vital part of schoolboy rugby, and most importantly, why helping others to succeed through initiatives such as Connect Academy is an absolute honour for our School.

Thank you again to ALL who have made this incredible donation possible, and to all our supporters around the globe who cheer Brown!

With our thanks,

SSFC Rugby Tour Parents Fundraising Committee & Simon Mulholland, Director of Rugby
