A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the first ever Sedbergh Global Online Quiz which was held via Zoom and Kahoot! on Thursday 19th November. The evening was a tremendous success with a fantastic turnout, with OS dialing in from countries around the world such as Canada, New Zealand, China, South Africa, the United States, and throughout Europe, to hear from a range of special guests. Approximately 130 players tested their Sedbergh and general knowledge in the quiz, where Evans pipped Sedgwick to the post to win the Christmas hamper prize for the House. Attendees included a variety of OS, pupils, both former and current staff and parents, and friends of the School.
OS Chairman Jan van der Velde (L 77-82) hosted the evening, demonstrating his multi-tasking prowess in mastering the technology of both Zoom and Kahoot! simultaneously, while also circumnavigating the globe via the guest appearances of various fascinating speakers which included a brave, undisclosed member of an NGO working on the field in a war zone.
Alumni Director Ben Collins (P 97-02) co-hosted the evening and was among the list of presenters for one of the eight categories in the quiz. The ever-changing top five leaderboard led to compelling viewing throughout the evening but it was eventually Winder Housemaster Mr Mahon who took home the top honour with a narrow lead over former physics teacher and Deputy Housemaster of Powell House, Mr Swainson. A well done to Matt Green (H 03-07) who was the top performing OS. Please see the results below:
The OS Club will be hosting another quiz in the near future as well as a range of upcoming online events focusing on career development/advice for young pupils and OS, and business groups. More information will be announced in the New Year.
The OS Club would again like to thank everyone for their support and we look forward to seeing you again soon for the next event!
